Can’t edit a canvas app because you’re not the owner and the original owner is away, slacking off or gone for good? Eric Regnier figured out the way to deal with the situation like a boss (You can be like a boss too by sending your next tip to firstname.lastname@example.org).
You don’t have to wait, instead create a simple Power Automate cloud flow with the Power Apps for Admin connector to change the owner to yourself or anyone else.
Why explain further when this picture tells it all!
And then just run the flow manually.

There are also tools in the Power Platform Center of Excellence (CoE) Toolkit that give you a nice UI for managing these permissions for apps and flows: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/guidance/coe/core-components#set-app-permissions
Nice post and comment!
Very useful for this beginning PowerPlatform / D365 user.
